Before marriage: how to verify properly
Checking before a match is wise - but done lawfully, not by defaming anyone. We do not keep a 'blacklist' of any person or family, because unproven accusations can also destroy an innocent life.
Safe ways:
- Let both families meet openly, several times, on different occasions.
- Verify identity, job/education and address directly through documents and trusted acquaintances.
- Use a registered professional agency for background verification, with consent.
- Check public, official records such as police verification / court records (with a lawyer's help).
- Talk openly before marriage: past relationships, debts, health, expectations.
- Pause at any pressure, hurry or "decide now".
If you were cheated, meet the police or a lawyer, and if you need to talk, call Tele-MANAS 14416.
